Call for Artists for WAA at Porter’s Neck Port City Java Café
 
 All WAA members in good standing are eligible to apply to show 2D artwork in the Port City Java (PCJ) Porter’s Neck for the first installment in 2016.  The show will be hung for 4 months.  If interested, please contact Kevin at kevindunn1981@gmail.com.

Upcoming Programs
 
Here is a list of WAA Programs and Speakers for 2016 General Membership Meetings.  Meetings are held at 6.30pm at NHC Arboretum, unless otherwise noted.

January  14th:  This month we welcomed printmaker, Susan Baehmann to talk about "Original prints versus Giclees". 
 
 
February 11th:  Pastel Demonstration and talk by Bonnie Rogers.  Rogers teaches pastel figure drawing at the Cameron Museum School.  She will demo a live pastel figure drawing, and is excited to share her passion for pastel with fellow artists.  Bonnie is a graduate in Creative Arts from UNCW and was a graphic artist for many years.

March 10th:  Our presenter will be Kelly Starbuck of SALT Studio Photography.  A well-known local photographer, Kelly has had work displayed in Town & Country and Southern Living Magazines, on Larry King Live, and in numerous local and national publications.  She specializes in photographing pieces of art for shows, and will speak about her background and experiences.

April  -  WAA Spring Show and Sale - no program.     
April 11th-13th:  WAA Workshop by Chad Smith entitled "Plein Air Concepts"

May 12th (At St. Paul's): WAA member and local oil painter known nationally for her outstanding work, Joanne Geisel  will explain and demonstrate her process as she begins an oil painting.  She will also share her thoughts on gallery representation, including creating a body of work, resume, cover letter and researching and approaching galleries.

June 9th:  WAA Annual Spring Picnic and Painting Party at Hugh Macrae Park

July and August - no programs.  Will be arranging a workshop.

September 8th:  Charles Robertson will present a program and demo on encaustics.

October13th:  TBA      Workshop with Michael Chesley Johnson - date and title TBA

November 10th:  TBA

December 8th:  WAA Annual Holiday Party
